Hirose has introduced a small, 1 mm-pitch interface connector for high-speed data transmission. Designated the DH Series, the connectors’1-mm contact mating pitch coupled with a 0.5-mm mounting pitch yields a more compact, lower-profile, higher-density alternative to conventional half-pitch interface connectors. Depending on the cable, the series can handle up to 2.5 Gb/s speeds. The connectors are appropriate for enterprise networking, industrial, telecom and datacom applications. The DH Series’ plug, with its robust, D-shaped interface design, resists wrenching forces while the receptacle’s through-hole style metal fittings increase retention to the PCB. The DH connector is available in two different lock styles to accommodate most applications: a screw lock version with either screwdriver- or hand-tightened screws and a one-touch lock version with metal or plastic buttons. The design offers a unique contact arrangement for IDC termination and shielding for EMI prevention. The connector, which measures 43mm x 39mm x 14.3mm, is available in 17, 27, 37 and 51 contact positions.
