The SC Type Fiber Optic Industrial Media Converters are two additions to the EKI-3000 family “Light Industrial” un-managed switch lineup. They have the smaller compact housing that is shared with the EKI-3000 family switches. The models include the EKI-3541M, which is a multi-mode version to send data up to a distance of 2 km, and the EKI-3541S, which is a single-mode version to send data up to 30 km.
These units convert Ethernet networks to fiber by transparently converting the Ethernet signals to optical. The biggest advantages are wide bandwidth, EMI immunity, and long distance transmissions. The compact devices offer simple plug and play installation. In the event of a fault on the device network, administrators are instantly alerted through the use of Link Fault-Pass technology which sends the error signal through whichever port is still available. The compact size also allows the devices to be installed in a small cabinet, thereby making the most of the available space.
These models carry an IP40 certification for light industrial usage and work from -10 to 60 C for various industrial environments. They have an operating voltage range of between 12 to 48 Vdc and provide 3000 Vdc surge (EFT) protection against over-voltage so it is very suitable for harsh operating climates.
