Medical applications have specific design issues, for example, moving smaller and smaller parts in a constricted space. The 1100 Series conveyor platform, from Dorner Mfg. Corp., features a ¾ in. frame height. This low profile enables the conveyor to fit into tight spaces, freeing up valuable machine or worker space. The conveyor is designed for lightweight or very small product movement and is Clean Room Class 100 Certified, making it suitable for medical, pharmaceutical and life sciences applications.
The conveyor comes with several engineering features for best performance in small part handling. It has a 5/8 in. roller transfer tail for accurate and efficient small part end transfers; the conveyor belt is nearly flush with the frame for ease of side transfers; and a patent-pending pinch drive allows for 15-lb load without the need for high belt tension.
The pinch drive offers worry free conveyance using three different belt tracking methods: cam, frame, and pinch drive. Simply position the conveyor in the machine and let it run. If belt change is required, the drive package separates in two halves with just four fasteners, allowing for faster belt changes. Lastly, the conveyor ships completely assembled and ready to run.

The brushless dc gearmotor enables forward and reverse, as well as 60 indexes per minute. Belt speeds are to 70 fpm; belt widths are 1.75 in., 3.75 in., 6 in., 8 in. and 10 in. Belt options include low, medium, and high friction. The conveyor is available in lengths 10.5 in. to 60 in. in 1/8 in. increments.
