Curtiss-Wright’s Actuation Group earns Minnesota governor’s safety award

Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s Actuation Group today announced that its Exlar facility located in Chanhassen, MN, received the Meritorious Achievement Award in Occupational Safety as part of the Minnesota Governor’s Safety Awards. The Chanhassen site produces Exlar electromechanical actuation technologies, and earned the award by reporting better than industry average recordable rates and scored between 50 and 74 on a 100-point safety program evaluation scale.

“Every day in Minnesota about 100 workers get injured or ill to the point that they can’t go back to their job the next day,” said Paul Aasen, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Congratulations to Curtiss-Wright for their hard work to make sure their employees are not part of this statistic.”

Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry’s national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program. Coordinated by the Minnesota Safety Council, Curtiss-Wright will be honored at the 2019 Minnesota Safety & Health conference on Wednesday, May 8th, at Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake, Minnesota. Curtiss-Wright is one of 170 employers to be honored with this award.

“Workplace safety is always our first priority, and our employees are dedicated to maintaining these standards,” said Kevin Rayment, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Industrial Division. “We are proud to be recognized by the Minnesota Governor’s Safety Awards for our diligent efforts.”
