DC-DC Converters from TDK-Lambda

By Design World Staff | December 18, 2008

San Diego, CA ‚– TDK-Lambda has launched a new family of single and dual-output, 40-watt, DC-DC converters that operate from a 4:1 wide range input, which makes them ideal for applications where the input voltage can vary widely, including datacom, telecom, distributed power, and POL architectures. The new PXF40-W series are fully isolated converters that feature six-sided shielded metal cases which reduces the radiated noise to meet EN55022 Level A specifications.

These PXF40-W models are available with a wide 4:1 DC input range of either 9 to 36V or 18 to 75V, which reduces the number of parts that need to be inventoried at the user’s facility and also enhances the flexibility of the end user‚’s products.

Footprints for these devices are industry standard 2 x 2 x 0.4 inches. The converters provide a total output power level of up to 40 watts and are available with single output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, or 15V, and dual-output voltages of +/-12V or +/-15V.

The devices boast efficiencies of up to 88% and MTBF (mean time between failures) in excess of 1.3 million hours, are safety-approved to UL60950 and EN60950 specifications, and are RoHS compliant. Remote on/off, output trim, and over-current and over-voltage protections are included features.

The PXF40-W family of DC-DC converters is available now, with prices starting at $53 in OEM quantities. Detailed specifications for the PXF series of DC-DC converters can be found at: http://www.us.tdk-lambda.com/lp/products/px-series.htm
