Desktop-Based CAE Solution SimOffice R2 From MSC

By Design World Staff | July 30, 2007

SANTA ANA, Calif. – MSC.Software Corp.,  today announced the release of SimOffice R2. SimOffice R2 provides a cost-effective, desktop-based CAE solution that revolutionizes design analysis productivity. Users can broaden their capabilities with extended analysis functionality including the ability to perform analyses that include contact between components, the ability to analyze components that deform beyond elastic limits and the ability to study the behavior of components made of composite materials. Users are also able to increase control with extended FE Modeling capabilities including the ability to assign loads, constraints and properties to FE entities and automatically create “spider” type multi point constraints.

SimOffice is designed for a wide range of manufacturers from small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to larger enterprises that need computer aided engineering (CAE) capability to meet the growing demands of their customers. As manufacturers face increasing time-to-market and right-to-market pressures, SimOffice can help them stand out from their competition with its superior integration with Microsoft software and with its integration with and support of the leading CAE simulation software, MD Nastran. SimOffice R2 helps manufacturers to meet these demands by providing a multi-CAD environment that works with nearly all major design systems including systems from Dassault Systemes, Pro/Engineer and UGS, and by supporting standard CAD interchange formats like Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES). SimOffice is the first CAE environment certified to work with Windows Vista and is MS.Net enabled. SimOffice’s superior integration with Microsoft provides significant advantages to organizations, taking advantage of the fact that Microsoft is already established in many design and engineering departments thereby providing integration with other Microsoft productivity tools including Excel to integrate CAE analysis capabilities into their engineering and design process. “SimOffice R2 leverages MSC.Software’s MD Nastran, the most widely recognized and trusted CAE solution in the industry,” said Alf Goebel, vice president, global channels for MSC.Software. “Its out-of-the-box integration provides a single environment in which the powerful combination of MD Nastran and the Windows Vista desktop environment allows design analysts to work faster, increase their control and broaden their capabilities, thereby increasing productivity.
