The new pivot units are direct replacements for those of the predecessor series. They use the same pivot arm types and the standard hole pattern for easy installation in existing applications.
DESTACO has launched an updated RCM/RFM series of pneumatic pivot units, designed to offer greater flexibility and space-saving installation. The new series replaces the GR and RC Series models.
The components feature a toggle lock and are driven by a pneumo-hydraulic cylinder that can move large devices that are used in welding and assembly applications.
Much like their predecessor models, these new devices can be installed horizontally and vertically. While the cylinders of the predecessor series featured different lengths, depending on the configured opening angles of the head, all pivot units now come with the same cylinder length, which are available in four sizes.
“Being able to change the opening angle saves time,” explains Christian Schubert, global product manager with DESTACO. “There’s no need to readjust the improved sensor kit to recognize open and closed positions. It’s fixed, inductive sensor system ensures even greater accuracy and significantly reduces the need for spare part storage.”
The RFM series includes an integrated locking mechanism, which ensures a secure and reliable locking process — meaning the piston rod blocking system is no longer needed. This also allows the entire unit to be shortened. That is why the models of the RFM series are between 44.5 to 134 millimeters shorter than those of the current GR series.
The patented system uses racks and ensures a safe stop of work processes or during a compressed air outage.
