Direct Drive Rotary Servomotors

By Kathleen Zipp | April 25, 2007

CARTRIDGE DDR direct drive rotary servomotors eliminate mechanical transmission parts. They use pre-engineered components, an integrated, factory-aligned high-resolution feedback device, and operate without bearings. They now come in five frame sizes from 4.25 in. square to 13.78 in. square with four stack lengths per frame.

CE marked and UL listed for global application, the motors can come with 240, 400, or 480 V voltage ratings. Continuous torque is 4.57 to 510 N-m, peak torque to 1017 N-m, and speeds to 2500 rpm.

“Conventional servo systems typically include up to 15 mechanical transmission components per axis of motion that can limit performance and reliability while increasing operational costs. Frameless direct drive systems can take weeks and even months of design and integration time. CARTRIDGE DDR motors bridge the gap by eliminating all mechanical transmission parts to provide maintenance-free operation in just minutes,” says Jeff Arnold, Technology Specialist for Danaher Motion.
