When expert-designed code is available for the sensors in your design, rolling your own code seems like a undesirable and time-consuming alternative. Verification that the software runs on a specific microcontroller platform is an added plus. Working with Atmel, MEMSIC has done both with the e-Compass software for its MMC3416xPJ ultra low noise, low power magnetometer.
The e-Compass software applications extension provides a highly accurate fully tilt compensated electronic compass with calibration. Integration on the Atmel Xplained platform simplifies its implementation by having a calibration and e-Compass library as a Gallery program. The sensor’s high dynamic range of 16 Gauss further simplifies design by allowing more placement options on the board.
