Unfortunately, we live in a world where violent headlines are the norm. That being said, it’s more important now than ever to take a step back and savor the beauty that still exists around us.
In case you need a reminder, look no further than the entries to the third annual International Drone Photography Contest, which yielded thousands of submissions around the world by professional and amateur drone enthusiasts.
The panel of expert judges (which included National Geographic Deputy Director, Patrick Witty, and Photo Editor of National Geographic France, Emanuela Ascolia) sorted the entries into three categories: travel, sports, and nature, all of which you can browse here.
The photographs (winners and non-winners alike) lend the world a new perspective—and are stellar reminders of the much needed ability of drones to take the human eye out of the brutish muck to breathtaking, new heights.
