Dymax launches BlueWave LED spot-curing system

By Michelle Froese | October 26, 2021

Dymax, a manufacturer of advanced rapid and light-curable adhesives, has launched a new LED spot-curing system, which offers a 360-degree cure for those hard-to-reach areas on complex components.

Interested users can evaluate the Dymax BlueWave QX4 V2.0 LED system for two weeks free-of-charge through the company’s Try-and-Buy program. Learn more here.

UV spot curing can offer advantages over conventional adhesive assembly methods. Depending on the application, benefits include speed, energy efficiency, and a more consistent output. Light can also be beneficial for assemblies that are heat-sensitive.

The new, Dymax BlueWave QX4 V2.0 LED system provides high-intensity spot-curing technology, a compact size, and excellent curing versatility to create an efficient and user-friendly experience. The system features all the benefits of LED technology in a small, versatile unit.

It’s comprised of a controller with a foot-switch and up to four LED heads. Each head is available in 365, 385, and 405 nm and can be operated in unison or independently of each other. The lights are installed directly at the end of the heads, allowing for precise light delivery and 360 degrees of flexibility.

Each spot-curing system can be outfitted with either the 3, 5, or 8-mm diameter focusing lenses. LED heads and focusing lenses can be used in any combination and can be controlled through the system’s variable mode, a feature that allows each head to be individually programmed for intensity and cycle times.

Individual exposure times and intensity settings can be set to one-percent increments, giving users maximum curing flexibility.

In addition to the curing flexibility, the BlueWave QX4 V2.0 also features an easy-to-use control touch screen interface with the capacity to store up to 20 programs. The unit can be activated by a foot pedal or by PLC interface, allowing it to be easily incorporated into automated systems.

The complete BlueWave QX4 V2.0 LED curing system is comprised of a controller/power supply with a foot-switch, up to four LED heads/wands. A lens will need to be ordered for each head/wand in order to function properly. The length of the head/wand with the direct wired cable is 1.5 M (end to end). Components are sold separately.
