Evolve’s electric skateboards have impressed many with their unique designs and ability to take chances. Now, the GTR Series of skateboards will contain many features Evolve’s other models have, but with one twist: a bendy battery.
The new GTR line integrates the same powertrain technology, with twin 1,500-W motors that are hooked up to the back wheels. This is applied to two different types of boards, so there are two options for wheel setups.
The GTR models consist of the Bamboo GTR and the Carbon GTR, where one accents a more modest, woodsy-look and the other has a black matte finish.
But, what makes these skateboards one-of-a-kind is their battery that’s packed away in a compartment beneath the deck. Additionally, it doesn’t stick out too much, so it’s still easy to lug around the skateboard.
Instead of the battery being flat, the battery actually flexes. The four-piece battery design allows for tighter control when twisting and turning, and does not need any wires to connect the battery packs. This allows for a much safer design for the person skateboarding.
The range of the electric skateboard depends on the wheels that are attached. The 3.8-inch urethane street wheels allow both the Carbon and Bamboo GTR boards to go 31 miles on a charge, while the 7-inch pneumatic tires can go for 18 miles. The latter tires are intended for rough terrain. Additionally, the electric boards can chug away at 26 mph with the street wheels and 22 mph with the pneumatic tires.
