Emerson: Extending bearing life in the bottling/canning industry

By Mike Santora | August 18, 2022

Emerson-bearing-logo-imageOriginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must ensure that bearings perform properly and won’t require excess maintenance or frequent replacement simply because they can’t handle chemical cleaning agents, high-pressure washdowns, or other common factors that might facilitate wear and tear in standard bearings.

Emerson Bearing, a Boston, MA-based bearing company catering to niche markets nationwide and the sister company of Action Bearing which serves the New England market, is dedicated to accommodating the unique bearing needs of bottling/canning industry and offers solutions for extending bearing life along with complimentary guides.

Extending Bearing Life
Beverage and packaging applications and other corrosive environments often present specialized needs that must be considered when selecting the appropriate bearings. Multiple methods have been developed to avoid premature wear in bearings, such as the use of stainless steel bearings, solids lubes, and seal and slinger designs.

Ball bearings for OEM equipment play particularly wide and varied roles in the food and beverage sector. It’s important to know which applications and types of industrial equipment use food-grade stainless steel ball bearings to ensure that the applied lubricant is both sufficient and safe. Stainless steel bearings with solid lube offer an ideal solution for many food applications including packing, wrapping, and more, and suit any industry that requires minimal contamination from equipment such as bottling and canning operations.

Keeping the bottling and canning production lines moving requires dependable parts and service. Emerson Bearing offers solutions for bottling, canning, seaming, labeling, and any part of the process involving conveyance. They also sell a number of related products including stainless steel mounted units, roller chains, adhesives and sealants, cam followers, rod ends, thrust bearings, control bearings, and needle roller bearings.

Complimentary Guides Available
Emerson Bearing offers comprehensive guides for the Packaging and Food Processing industry available for download from their website. Among them include:
