Comcast Corporation announced this morning that Alexander D. Evans would join the company this month as executive vice president, global corporate development and strategy.
Evans will report to Michael Angelakis, who is vice chairman and chief financial Officer for Comcast.
“Alex Evans is a highly talented executive with deep experience in investment and corporate finance within the media, communications and technology sectors, both domestically and internationally,” said Angelakis. “I’m thrilled he will be leading Comcast NBCUniversal’s strategic business initiatives and managing its mergers and acquisitions efforts. He will also partner with our various business units on market development opportunities with a focus on business and geographic expansion.”
Evans spent the last 17 years at Providence Equity Partners, a global private equity firm focused on media, communications, education and information investments.
Most recently, he served as a managing director and head of the firm’s New York office as well as the global co-head of the communications sector. He also served as a member of Providence’s investment and portfolio review committees. During his career at Providence, he was a board director and responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Providence portfolio companies based in North America, Europe and South America.
Prior to joining Providence, he worked in New York for Morgan Stanley in corporate finance and was also a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group in Boston.
He was, until recently, a director of Providence portfolio companies, including Grupo TorreSur, Trilogy International Partners, and Ironman / World Triathlon Corporation.
