Vermont-based startup AirShark is the first company from the Green Mountain State to receive a commercial drone permit from the Federal Aviation Administration.
The startup, which is headquartered in Burlington, Vt., creates hardware and software for drones. Jon Burdreski of AirShark said the FAA has picked up the pace in its effort to commercialize smaller drone systems within the last six months. He said that the permit only allows the company’s registered drone to be operated by a licensed pilot on its staff and that the drone must be flown within that pilot’s view.
