FasTest TwistMate® Stainless Steel Connectors

By Dave Miyares | March 10, 2010

Minneapolis, MN—FasTest TwistMate® MIT (internal) and MET (external) connectors now feature stainless steel construction for greater durability and corrosion resistance. TwistMate connectors, previously available in heat-treated black steel, provide a unique seal design that delivers a leak-tight connection to threaded pipe—quickly and without the use of wrenches and thread sealants. Offered at the same competitive price point, TwistMate connectors now come standard with rugged stainless steel construction, making them an ideal solution for an even broader range of applications, including filling, flushing, plugging, calibrating and venting.

TwistMate connectors are designed to speed manufacturing processes by improving productivity, quality and safety. A unique twist-to-connect and pressure-assisted, grip-and-seal design allows fast, safe and repeatable threaded connections, eliminating thread wear and damage common to traditional connectors.

Traditional sealing methods pair mating thread profiles with a thread sealant, such as PTFE tape. The thread sealant in conjunction with the interference fit and a great deal of torque—typically applied with a wrench—changes the dimensions of the profiles. If the connection is not leak-tight, it may result in a hazardous situation. Plus, each time a connection is taped and torqued to seal, wear or damage occurs to the thread profiles, making it more difficult to achieve leak-tight connections in the future.

TwistMate connectors are simply twisted to finger-tight onto the mating thread profile. When the system is pressurized with air, gas or hydraulic pressure, the main seal is pressed against the test piece and the connector will automatically seal. The internal piston action maintains the seal with minimum pressure.

TwistMate connectors are rated for pressures up to 10,000 psi, depending on the model. The broad standard offering includes sizes from 1/8 to 3 inches NPT, and connectors are also available in the following specifications:

* BSPP
* BSPT
* SAE
* Metric
