Festo (www.festo.com), one of the world’s leading suppliers of electrical and pneumatic automation technology, has developed a real spatial miracle as its latest microslide DGSC features a width of only eight mm. Featuring positioning accuracy of 0.01 mm, the pneumatic slide is ideally suited for installation in space limited environments, while its space saving design does not compromise precision.
It can be used in handling operations in ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) systems, in simultaneous loading/unloading of multiple ICs or chips in and out of the test process and in connecting small screws as well as marking printed circuit boards with a data matrix code.
Depending on the location and type of use, the highly efficient microslide eliminates the need for setting, except for advancing the work piece’s end position. In addition, its stroke compensation is provided by a spring integrated between the yoke and the piston rod.
Offering a low breakaway torque, the pneumatic slide can travel jerk-free at a starting pressure of 15 psi, allowing it to safely pick up and put down parts without getting lost.
Festo’s microslide DSGC also features mechanical interfaces that help save money and simplify integration in the machine environments. Its various air-connection and mounting variants allows the DGSC to easily adapt to any installation situation while its compact dimensions enable multiple slides to be installed right next to each other even with narrow grid dimension.
