Qorvo, a provider of core technologies and RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and defense applications, announced the availability of a ZigBee 3.0 software development kit (SDK) for Smart Home gateways that incorporates the new GP712 radio communication controller chip from GreenPeak Technologies (now the Low Power Wireless business unit of Qorvo).
The ZigBee 3.0 SDK includes simplified software development models (APIs) that enable quick development of GP712-equipped gateway products as part of complete, end-to-end systems for the Smart Home. The SDK architecture is fully scalable and flexible, enabling integration of upcoming standards such as Thread. When combined with the GP712, the SDK allows gateway manufacturers to remain protocol agnostic and support multiple communication stacks in a single device.
Nokia and Zain KSA announced the deployment of LTE-Advanced three component carrier aggregation technology that will enable Zain to provide data speeds of up to 187.5 Mbps across its network. The implementation of three component carrier aggregation in the FDD-LTE band (FDD-LTE 3CC) concludes an extensive commercial network trial by Nokia and Zain. The network, which aggregates 25 MHz of spectrum on 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 2.1 GHz, was launched in the high-profile business and residential districts of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
