More than 5 millions hours – or 570 years – of wind data has been recorded by Second Wind’s Triton Sonic Wind Profiler since its launch in 2008. The company says no other remote sensing tool has amassed as much data. The milestone was reached around the time of AWEA Windpower 2012 conference, Second Wind’s CEO Larry Letteney said. The sensor system is being used for applications including greenfield prospecting, wind resource assessment, noise studies, and condition monitoring on operating wind farms.
