Rocklin, CA – Galil Motion Control, an industry pioneer in motion control technology, announced that it has reached a major milestone in its 24-year history by shipping its 500,000th motion controller. Ever since Galil opened for business in 1983 when it designed and shipped the world’s first servo motion controller, the Company has produced five generations of controllers, including its newest and fastest generation, The Accelera Series.
Chairman of the Board and Co-founder Jacob Tal attributes Galil’s success over the years by working side-by-side with customers to solve their specific motion control problem or application. He explains, “Our specialty has and always will be to help customers control motors precisely and cost-effectively with innovative, high performance and easy-to-use motion controllers. We will never stray from this position because it is something we passionately believe in. We live and breathe it daily. Our commitment remains as strong as ever in making it as easy as possible for our customers to find solutions to their problems.”
Already a highly regarded author, lecturer and engineer in motion control, Tal co-founded Galil in 1983 with Wayne Baron, an expert in robotics and motion control and who today serves as President. Their initial collaboration resulted in the world’s first microprocessor-based, single-axis servo motion controller without tachometer feedback. A year later, Tal and Baron welcomed their first employee, Lisa Wade, to handle worldwide marketing and sales activities.
Baron reflects on the astounding number of applications that Galil has provided solutions for. “Today, you can see Galil controllers in a myriad of industries in applications such as detecting hard disc defects, conducting ultrasound exams in the medical industry, steering autonomous vehicles from a GPS signal, testing semiconductor wafers, cutting through steel with water, automatic quilting, moving scenery in Broadway shows, engraving diamonds…I could go on and on,” adds Baron. “The point is that Galil is ready to accept virtually all motion control challenges, both large and small.”
“We’re quite proud to have shipped our 500,000th motion controller, knowing that Galil has successfully controlled millions of axes around the world,” said Wade, VP-Marketing & Sales. “To maintain this success over time and into the future, Galil continues to innovate new motion control solutions, like our small, low cost DMC-21×3 Ethernet Controllers with plug-in drives and our newly launched, full-featured Accelera controllers driven by a sizzling fast, RISC-based microprocessor.”
