It’s a thruster, buster
Maxon motor, known for its dc motors with ironless windings, showed its recently developed underwater thruster. The line of thrusters and actuators are oil filled and range in size from 16 to 42 mm in diameter. The core element is a motor-gear combination based on a brushless dc-motor and a planetary gearhead. The drives sit in polymer housings. Dubbed MT-30 thrusters, the units tolerate pressure up to 6 km with oil compensation. The propeller is optimized for low acoustic noise. The output power is 180 W, the thrusters operate from a 48-V supply, and weigh slightly under 2 lb.
