When you want to 3D-print stainless steel
Proto-pasta is a supplier of exotic filaments for 3D printers, including a PLA material containing stainless steel said to print as easily as standard PLA but resulting in heavy prints that can be finished and polished post-print. The skull model here is one example. Another interesting resin was Conductive PLA (15 ohm-cm) useful for making electrical circuits like the game controller board shown here. The electrical resistance rises with increasing material thickness, so any 3D-printed circuits need to be kept thin, say Proto-pasta officials.
