Meet Sandy, the material girl
You are looking at what was probably the most photographed person at MD&M this year. Sandy could be seen at the booth of 3D printer maker Airwolf 3D. She is wearing a dress and shoes composed entirely of 3D printed material. A view of the dress material’s backside (right) reveals the interlinks which let the material articulate in a way that resembles cloth. To form the dress, sections of material were joined together with a weave through the interlinking members. Also at the booth was Airwolf 3D’s model HDR printer which sports dual print heads, integrated WiFi, and cloud-based slicing and printing capability.
