W. L. Gore & Associates announces two new innovative venting solutions: New GORE® PolyVent Stainless Steel, for premium-level durability under the most challenging conditions in the field; and inside-mountable GORE® PolyVent InSet, for easy, cost-effective and nearly-invisible integration.
According to Peter Kroker, Technical Manager, “GORE® Protective Vents’ PolyVent portfolio is growing as we advance our materials and engineering technologies. These two new products provide venting solutions for two very different needs and markets.”
“PolyVent Stainless Steel uses premium-quality materials and construction to durably withstand the toughest challenges: from contact with the most aggressive cleaners and chemicals, to rugged industrial operating conditions, to environmental challenges like salty shoreline or even offshore locations.”
“PolyVent InSet addresses different challenges,” added Kroker. “It’s our only Snap-In Series vent with the option to mount from inside the housing, for an installed profile that’s nearly invisible. We believe the added production flexibility and fast, cost-effective installation will be highly advantageous to many of our customers.”
New PolyVent Stainless Steel (PMF200444)
for premium-level defense against severe environmental challenges
Premium-Quality Materials and Construction to Withstand the Worst
The vent body, cap and Gore’s creative membrane-sealing technology use only 100% 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel, and the new GORE™ Membrane, of 100% ePTFE, delivers premium performance with no backing-material. These premium-quality materials and construction provide:
• Excellent resistance to both corrosion and the most aggressive chemicals and cleaners, including acid-, leach- and oxidative-based chemicals.
• Added safety with our best flammability resistance (Non-flammable stainless steel; UL 94 VTM-0 GORE™ Membrane and UL 94 V-0 silicone O-ring).
Designed for screw-in installation and a tight, reliable seal to the housing, PolyVent Stainless Steel withstands operating temperatures from -40°C to +125°C, and easily complies with rigorous industry standards such as IP69K.
Streamlined Construction Adds Protection and Simplifies Design
PolyVent Stainless Steel’s low installed height (5.65 mm) simplifies housing design and vent integration, and averts damage from mechanical impacts or steam jets. Its shorter thread length (8.5 mm) occupies less space inside the housing, for more flexibility in component layout. And at only 9.25 g, it’s ideal for weight-critical applications.
New Vent-Hole Design and Position Enhances Roll-Off and Protects Airflow
Newly-designed vent holes, along the top edge of the cap, discourage water ingress and make it nearly impossible for water to be trapped inside the vent. The stainless-steel surface also encourages water roll-off, further reducing the chance that the membrane could become blocked and obstruct airflow.
New PolyVent InSet (PMF200271)
for fast, easy inside mounting that’s nearly invisible from the outside
Production Flexibility; Installation Advantages
As the only GORE® PolyVent that can be installed from either the inside or outside of the housing, new PolyVent InSet offers greater production-line flexibility. When inside-mounted, all that’s visible from the outside is a 1 mm vent hole – perfect for applications where design aesthetics are critical. And, inside-mounted vents can’t be disassembled, which prevents device manipulations in the field.
Easier, More Cost-Effective Integration
Simple installation geometry means GORE® PolyVent InSet integrates quickly and cost-effectively, without special tooling. Snap-in installation is fast and easy too, on either automated or manual production lines.
Performance to a Higher Standard
PolyVent InSet, designed for enclosure volumes up to 2 liters, reliably meets a wide range of demanding industrial standards, including IP66, IP67 and IP68.
