Graebert GmbH announces ARES Commander Edition 1.0 for Mac OS X

By Laura Carrabine | August 11, 2010

Graebert™ GmbH announced its award-winning ARES™ Commander Edition 2D/3D CAD software for Mac® OS X® is now immediately shipping at an introductory price of $495 through the end of September, a 50% discount from the regular price of $995.

Having announced the beta of ARES for Mac at Macworld 2010 in February, Graebert chose to launch 1.0 on the week that for many years marked the start of MacWorld Expo Boston.  This was done to commemorate the proud history of the Mac and its passionate user base – many of whom have been on the platform for decades and have long sought a powerful and affordable 3D CAD solution capable of supporting both AEC and MCAD use cases.

Using a native OS X UI, ARES on the Mac is the first CAD solution to run across Microsoft® Windows®, Apple® Mac® OS X and Linux®, while also being optimized for specific operating system features and capabilities. iPad® support is also under active investigation to bring a full CAD solution to mobile users seeking a blend of features and performance.

ARES provides both industry compatibility and the high-performance features and capabilities for mission-critical design workflow. ARES for Mac takes advantage of the ease-of-use of the Apple platform while also providing the professional-level precision, features and performance of the CAD engine that also powers the new DraftSight™ software from Dassault Solidworks® on the Windows platform. ARES also offers users a choice of experiencing a fully Mac-specific User Interface (UI) or a more tailored UI that matches the Windows version – both UI versions are fully command compatible with AutoCAD®.

A free 30-day trial of ARES Commander Edition for Mac OS X may be downloaded at www.graebert.com – potential users can also read the recent glowing review of ARES by Cadalyst Magazine at http://www.graebert.com/aresmedia/Cadalyst_report_ARES-reprint.pdf. Minimum system requirements for the Mac version of ARES Commander are an Intel® x86 processor and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or above.

Resellers and OEMs interested in carrying ARES Commander Edition for Mac or using the ARES CAD engine for their own customized versions of the software should email [email protected] to obtain further details and a roadmap for the software development process currently scheduled for Mac OS X.
