For water-rich environments, Molykote G-1502FM is a lubricant described as “tenaciously tacky” by its maker, Dow Corning Corp. The synthetic bearing and gear grease is formulated to resist spray-off, reduce wear and corrosion, and help users lower equipment maintenance costs, the company says.
The grease stays in place even with high-pressure equipment wash-down, outperforming other greases in ASTM D tests for water spray-off, wear and corrosion, the company says. Molykote minimizes lubrication loss and wear scars at typical speeds, as well as in four-ball wear tests at slower (100 rpm) speeds. Corrosion tests show an ability to reduce rust by as much as 95 percent.
