Here is both a green and a cost saving idea for conveying items in the food and beverage industry. The System Plast™ low-back pressure accumulation belt eliminates the need for cardboard trays under shrink-wrapped packs. Consisting of half-inch (12.7 mm) acetal rollers, the conveyor surface is specifically designed to ensure support and stability for PET bottles with petaloid bottoms, but can be used for a variety of containers.
The conveyor surface provides forward movement of the product, but easily rolls under shrink-wrapped packs during accumulation, minimizing pressure on bottles at the head of the queue and eliminating the need for protective cardboard trays. Tight roller spacing eliminates gaps and provides optimum product stability.
The small pitch diameter and use of a 0.75 in. (19 mm) nose bar also allows tight end transfers. Precision-molded premium plastics and austenitic steel retention pins maximize conveyor life and use, while also reducing noise.
The low-back pressure belt is a complement to System Plast NG™ chain, a low-friction flat-top conveyor chain that can eliminate or reduce the wasteful water-and-soap lubrication typically used in food and beverage processing. NG chain also reduces the costs and energy for water reclamation, and eliminates the wear paste buildup, noise, pulsation and hygiene issues caused by mineral-oil-based dry lubricants. Used with System Plast Nolu®-S wear strips, the conveying system can reduce conveyor energy requirements by up to 30%, with service life sometimes as much as five times greater.
