SX-4462 magnetic torque sensorTT Electronics has introduced the SX-4462 Hall effect magnetic non-contact torque sensor, a flexible and cost-effective sensor offering high accuracy and diagnostic capabilities for electronic power steering (EPS) applications including off-road vehicles (ORVs), three-wheelers, light commercial trucks, and tractors.

The SX-4462 fourth-generation Magnetorque (MT4) is easy to integrate, leveraging TT’s system expertise and development support. Additional flexibility is provided by customization options including full-scale range and sensitivity, wire length, product marking and connector type. The 4.5V-5.5V supply voltage range simplifies connection to a convenient power source, and the maximum current of just 20mA ensures always-low power consumption. Redundant outputs that allow full diagnostics and output voltage clamps that enable open/short detection ensure flawless performance under the toughest use conditions.

TT’s MT4 Magnetorque family of torque sensors allows secure, tactile steering control, unaffected by vibration, contamination or wear factors that impair ordinary contacting sensors. It is ideal for ORVs, including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), as well as industrial vehicles used in locations such as quarries, factories, farms, or construction sites.

Weighing just 82 grams, this lightweight sensor aids vehicle economy and dynamics. Engineered for high linearity near the zero-degree position, and torque angle of ±5°, it performs multi-turn measurement over ±2.5 turns with typical sensitivity of up to 0.4 V/°.
