The new Model 9970 Hall-effect position sensor from BEI Sensors ships within two weeks and features a 50-mm mounting hole spacing for drop-in compatibility with existing installations. It’s IP67 and IP69K rated non-contacting technology, so the sensor withstands harsh environments.
A 1.5 Series AMP Superseal connector is standard. With life to 35 million cycles and a temperature rating from -40° to 125°C, the sensor works well in off-highway vehicles to give feedback for precise motion control.
It comes in versions that output 0 to 5-V ratiometric or 4 to 20 mA for ease of specification. Unlike comparable sensors, 9970s can travel 360° so work over large rotary ranges. Overvoltage protection prevents possible damage from installation errors. To limit radio interference, the 9970 resists electromagnetic interference, up to 200V/m, about the strength of a microwave.
The sensor works for steering and pedal position applications in construction and agricultural vehicles as well as throttle positioning in marine applications. It’s also suitable for mining and material handling equipment and for valve position indication or control in processing systems.
