Mobile software market Handango promoted Alex Bloom to CEO and president. Bloom, previously vice president of content, succeeds current CEO and President Bill Stone as of February.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity,” Bloom said. “We’re the original app store, and we have a lot of experience and an exceptional breadth of product offerings that we’ll be looking to expand upon in the future.”
Stone will remain an active member of the Board of Directors as he transitions to the position of senior vice president at Qualcomm, where he’ll run the FLO TV division. (story here)
Handango, along with rival Handmark, is trying to become more smartphone-friendly. Coinciding with its recent 10th year of operation, Handango revamped its Web site with simpler navigation and a new device selection menu. That will help ensure application compatibility, company representatives said.
