Cogent Real-Time Systems and Nissin Systems Co. Ltd of Kyoto, Japan, announced an agreement under which Nissin will distribute Cogent’s OPC DataHub in Japan and other Asian markets. Nissin has developed software links from the Lantronix XPort and other devices to the OPC DataHub. These links let you connect serial hardware to a range of Windows applications and share data with them in real time.
“Nissin’s saw an opportunity to leverage XPort with the OPC DataHub, and it has quickly brought a powerful idea to market,” said Andrew Thomas, President of Cogent Real-Time Systems.
The XPort is a thumb-sized device that converts serial data signals into TCP for networking or Internet connectivity. Cogent’s OPC DataHub is an integrated tool that can present live process data directly on your desk in a form most suitable: database, spreadsheet, or web page.
Nissin’s success in connecting the OPC DataHub to XPort means that serial data can be easily displayed live in a web page or Excel spreadsheet, logged to a database, or integrated in with any OPC-based process control system.
