Helac Corporation Promotes Bill Power to President

By Design World Staff | October 14, 2009

Enumclaw, WA — Helac Corporation has promoted Bill Power from Chief Operating Officer to President. Power’s promotion to President after his two year tenure at Helac includes additional leadership responsibilities with a stronger emphasis on operations, market and product development, and customer service.

“Bill has become a critical asset to Helac in a very short time. He has guided Helac through the economic downturn and simultaneously continued to lay the foundation for long-term growth by taking care of our customers first, running a lean organization, and developing new products our markets need and want, “ states Dean Weyer, Chief Executive Officer for Helac Corporation. “I look forward to working together with Bill to ensure our customers continue to receive outstanding service and technology advancements from Helac Corporation.”

Since joining Helac in August of 2007, Power has helped guide Helac through the current economic challenges while maintaining a positive cash flow and quickly returning Helac to profitability. He has also led the management team through key initiates to lay the foundation for future growth, including talent development, market driven planning, new product development, and LEAN manufacturing.

Power’s accomplishments leading to his promotion to President include:

•Talent Development — Consolidated the formation of a high performance management team and increased training and learning at all levels of the organization

•Market Driven Management — Worked with the production team to reduce product lead times by 50 percent and improve on-time delivery to over 95 percent. Also developed penetration strategies for key markets and developed strategic relationships in designated markets with a business potential of several million dollars.

•New Product Development — Implemented the Stage Gate product development process being used to deploy ten new products to be completed by 2011.
•LEAN Manufacturing — Reorganized shop management into four distinct product value streams, reduced inventories while shortening manufacturing lead times, and implemented a new LEAN cost accounting system.

Power will continue to drive Helac’s track record and leadership position in the market by understanding and addressing customers’ unmet needs, pursuing continuous improvements, and responding quickly with quality solutions.

Power brings 30 years of experience in the fluid handling industry, including 16 years as the General Manager for Parker Hannifin Corporation in their Zenith Pump and Hydraulic Pump/Motor Divisions. He has sold directly to OEMs and distributors in mobile markets such as agriculture, construction, ground care, forestry and aerial workplatform throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
