In order to maintain general safety of passengers, the requirements on cables in rail vehicles have always been very high. The new European Standard DIN EN 45545-2 goes on to increase the requirements regarding fire protection in rail vehicles. Aside from being halogen free, all used cables have to be flame retardant and self – extinguishing and are not allowed to contribute to fire propagation.
SAB Bröckskes Ethernet cables, CAT 5, CAT6 and CAT7, have proven best performance in practice under harsh environmental conditions. Due to the current and future development in automation and rail industry and the steadily increasing data volumes and rates, the cable manufacturer SAB Bröckskes (Lower Rhine) now offers the new rail FRNC cables according to DIN EN 45545-2.
SAB’s new cable type according to the latest standard, CATLine CAT 5e R, CAT 6A R and CAT 7A R, completes the product range and enables wiring according to the highest current safety standard of the rail industry.
The application field of the new cable types are Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet connecting in rail vehicles, for example in passenger information systems, control technique or E-ticketing systems.
Furthermore, the production possibilities of SAB do not only include standard dimensions but also hybrid cables with an integrated CAT7 element especially by customer´s request.
