Inertial Measurement Unit and Vertical Gyro from MicroStrain

By Editor | June 29, 2012

Share

MicroStrain’s newest in the family of inertial sensors – the 3DM-GX3®-15 Inertial Measurement Unit and Vertical Gyro – offers users who do not need magnetometers a lower cost, lower power option to the popular 3DM-GX3-25, yet still maintains the same high quality inertial performance. The addition of the 3DMGX3-15 completes our GX3 family of products, and includes new MIP API across the entire range of products, for greater compatibility among units.

MicroStrain-3DM-GX3-1-Vertical-Gyro

3DM-GX3®-15 Inertial Measurement Unit and
Vertical Gyro

The 3DM-GX3-15 is a miniature inertial measurement unit (IMU) that utilizes MEMS sensor technology and combines a triaxial accelerometer and a triaxial gyro to maintain the inertial performance of the original GX3-25. This new miniature IMU also maintains the same small size and footprint as the GX3-25, allowing for application designs to easily integrate either unit. In addition, the new MIP API is now integrated across the family of inertial sensor products, providing greater flexibility, and enabling seamless interchange of GX3 units without changing software.

The 3DM-GX3-15, along with the rest of the GX3 family – 3DM-GX3-25, 3DM-GX3-35, 3DMGX3-45 – include new, improved gyros. This means all of the units in the GX3 family offer extremely low dynamic g-sensitivity, higher powered shock survivability, and lower noise.
