Plastic Components Inc. (PCI) is a technology-based company that emphasizes automation and cutting edge innovation in providing customers with quicker time to market. An example of this approach is the use of the CGI Cross Sectional 3D Scanner.

Plastic Components

Plastic Components fully automated, lights out facility located in Germantown, WI.

As a part of the component qualification process, the CGI scanner is used to analyze the internal and external geometry of the plastic injection molded part. The cross sectional 3D scanner captures parts accurately and in their complete form. It can deliver automated dimensional data for complex parts quickly. The actual part data can then be compared directly to the 3D CAD model. This technology speeds analysis and dramatically reduces the time required to provide results for customers.

CGI

The CGI Pearl 900 Cross Sectional 3D Scanner captures parts accurately and in complete form, delivering automated dimensional data for complex parts quickly.

The CGI scanner has also been used in reverse engineering applications where a new 3D CAD file was created by scanning an existing customer’s component. This greatly reduced the time required to rebuild an existing mold to the customer’s current part geometry.

Reduced time to market is at the forefront of all company objectives. At Plastic Components, the ultimate goal is to get customers tools into production quickly and meet their specifications. The accuracy and speed at which a part can be analyzed is what makes the CGI Cross Sectional 3D Scanner an invaluable tool.
