The RIO-47100 (RIO) remote I/O controller connects to Ethernet and provides an intelligent, cost-effective method for adding inputs and outputs to a variety of motion and non-motion applications.
Each RIO unit is self-contained and supplies numerous analog and digital I/O including 8 analog inputs, 8 analog outputs, 16 optically isolated inputs, 8 high-power isolated outputs up to 500 mA each, and 8 low-power isolated outputs up to 25 mA each. Multiple units can be distributed on an Ethernet network for I/O expansion.
The units contain a RISC processor for handling I/O logic at high speeds. On-board memory and multitasking frees the host computer and motion controller for other tasks. Features include logical and arithmetic operators, conditional statements, process control loops, pulse counters, variables and arrays.
The RIO comes with an Ethernet 10/100Base-T port and an RS232 port up to 115 Kbaud. It can be also be configured as a slave device of an Ethernet motion controller such as the DMC-40×0 or DMC-21×3, or can run stand-alone on an Ethernet network.
Standard features include easy programming using simple two-letter command language, a web interface for status viewing and changing of I/O states without installing additional software, and email for remote messaging.
The RIO can receive power solely from Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), or from an external supply of 18V — 36 Vdc. It measures 3.88 in. by 4.26 in. x 1.30 in.
