After Tech Ingredients took apart a hybrid jet engine, they realized they had some extra parts to tinker with, so they decided to create an add-on for e-bikes, according to New Atlas. With their extra parts, Tech Ingredients workers created a DIY Jet Bike where the hub motor is powered by a pair of battery-powered ducted fans. The add-on almost looks like an Iron Man-creation, with the bright red and gold colors.
Everything is activated when the rider uses the mid-handlebar control box. In order to power up, the rider powers on the pulse-width modulation controller, which then turns on the two JP Hobby 90EDF ducted fans.
The fans are right next to one another in a double horseshoe aluminum frame that’s in the rear of the bike rack. Coming from the top of the fans are 10 gauge cables running from speed controllers. These are powered by batteries inside soft carry bags and hang from the bike rack. The bags hold two six-cell battery packs.
Tech Ingredients designed this so the setup can be added to any two-wheeler without altering the frame.
