J.W. Winco, Inc. recently was awarded the 2012 APSE (Association for Persons in Supported Employment) Best Employer Award in the medium-sized companies category.
APSE Best Employer Awards are presented each year to the nation’s top companies in the field of Customized Employment, the integration of persons with disabilities into the workforce. J.W. Winco and the other award recipients were selected out of thousands of organizations across the United States.
Mark Winkler, who serves as the company’s chief financial officer and manages the human resources department, accepted the award Thurs., June 28 at the 2012 National APSE Conference in Arlington, VA. He represented himself and his two brothers, John, chief executive officer, and Robert, chief information officer, who share the Office of the President of the family-owned business.
“A company that employs a diverse workforce is better able to understand the demographics of the marketplace it serves, and is better equipped to thrive in that marketplace,” stated Winkler in his acceptance speech. “As our father always said, ‘Building a strong foundation of talented and hardworking employees supports a roof of success!’”
J.W. Winco works with Milwaukee-based Creative Employment Opportunities, Inc.
