Lambda Adds Compact 960W NV Series AC-DC Power Supplies

By Design World Staff | February 8, 2007

Lambda has expanded its highly successful NV family of environmentally-friendly AC-DC power supplies, adding a product series that can supply up to 960 watts. The new NV-700 series is especially suitable for use in high-density medical, industrial and test-and-measurement equipment.

The NV-700 series is built on Lambda’s patented MRT (multiple resonant topology), which uniquely uses synchronous rectification to achieve the supply’s high efficiency and allow significantly reduced power loss without compromising size for power.

Units measure a very compact 1.6 x 4.92 x 10.8 inches — making them compatible with 1U enclosures — and accept all existing and newly-developed NV power modules, enhancing the series’ flexibility with up to eight outputs.

Input voltage ranges from 90 to 265VAC, 45-63Hz with active power factor correction.  The supplies deliver 700 watts at 115VAC input and 960 watts when the input voltage is greater than 150VAC.

NV-700 power supplies are available with nominal outputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24 and 28 volts and with currents up to 40 amps.  An optional high-power 5- or 12-volt standby output, remote on/off, and power good signals are also available.

The new series has IEC/UL/EN60601-1 medical approvals and complies with EN55022 Level B conducted emissions standards — unique for this class of product — as well as IEC/EN61010-1 and IEC/UL/EN60950-1 approvals.  The units also carry the CE mark.

Lambda NV-700 series power supplies are available now, priced at $438 each in 100-unit quantities for a four-output configuration.  More information can be found at Lambda’s Web site, www.lambdapower.com.
