AllMotion Inc. develops and manufactures miniature high-performance stepper and servo drives for the medical, scientific, optical and general automation markets. Their mission is to create superior, ultra-compact motion control solutions that reduce costs and readily integrate into OEM instrumentation designs across a wide range of industries. R&D efforts are centered on core competencies of small form factor components that deliver precise positioning control and ease of use

AllMotion provides off-the-shelf motion control devices and custom solutions based on their EZStepper and EZServo motor driver technology. Their servo motor controllers and brushless DC motor controllers feature quadrature encoder feedback, and are programmable to allow standalone operation. Based in Union City, California, the company has proven leadership in miniature motion control, with a full line of intelligent driver/ controllers.

AllMotion introduces the next generation of Servo Drive and Control for 2021. The drive circuit is now Torque Vector controlled for smooth motor operation. The control side still provides ease of operation allowing the rapid implementation of servo motor solutions in products requiring automation.

Big Power in a Small Package The Drive measures just 2.25” square and is 0.9” high. The fully intelligent servo motor Driver + Controller can deliver better than 20 amps of current into a 3 phase servo motor. Voltage input can range from 12 to 50 Volts. Four inputs for home and limits as well as general purpose inputs are standard. There is also a high power output for solenoids or brakes. No hall sensors are required and encoder feedback has options for single ended or differential inputs.

New ways to Communicate The new Servo Drive also has CAN and Ethernet hardware interfaces to allow the integration of the drives into applications requiring these types of communications. Protocols such as CAN-OPEN and EtherCATTM can be run on the high speed processor expanding the possible applications of this next generation Driver + Controller.

Tried and True For users already familiar with the AllMotion product line, the drive also incorporates the tried and true communications protocol that allows users to be up and running in no time.

The Commands are intuitive and simple. For example, the command A10000 will move the servo motor to Absolute position 10000. (This communications protocol is compatible with devices that use the Cavro DT or OEM protocol.)

The Servo is also capable of stand-alone operation with no connection to a PC.

It can be set to execute a preset string of commands upon power up (i.e., only power is required in this mode). The Commands include nested loops and execution halt pending a switch closure, which is useful in stand-alone applications.

The Servo Motor Controller will typically work with any motor that is 4” or smaller (size 34 or smaller). Starter Kits enable a first time user to make Servo Motors move intelligently in less than half an hour.
