Building on its long heritage, the company continues evolving and improving the value proposition for its customers. Harwin has just introduced three newly define categories for its product portfolio. These are:
The HRi category – which incorporates all the high-reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors that the company produces. These deliver elevated levels of performance while still being exceptionally rugged. This means that they can be deployed in the most challenging of working environments. Its multi-award-winning Gecko connectors can be specified in situations where there are acute size and weight limitations, enabling customers SWaP requirements to be met. Datamate connectors can address applications that call for high contact numbers, while the Kona connectors can handle high currents within a compact form factor. The Mix-Tek connector options enable signifi cant space savings to be realized, by combining data transmission and power delivery capabilities.
The BBi category – consisting of Harwin board-to-board connectors targeted at industrial deployment. The durable, small footprint, high contact density Archer Kontrol series is complemented by the Archer .5 and Archer .8 mezzanine connectors which support high-speed operation in space-constrained application settings.
The EZi category – this features the company’s extensive selection of board-level hardware and accessories. As well as easy to implement EMI/ RFI shielding cans, there are a variety of spacers, spring contacts, cable clips, jumper links and coin cell battery holders.
Harwin has dedicated application engineering and technical support staff to assist customers, advising on which products will be best for scenarios, resulting in systems with real differentiation. The company’s US production facility (situated in New Hampshire) produces custom cable assembly solutions, with even very small unit quantities being addressed; and there is complete flexibility in terms of length, configuration, etc. This always assures superior quality. Harwin fulfills the needs of the avionics industry thanks to its main production site (located in Portsmouth, UK) which has full AS9100D accreditation.
The company is constantly investing in the latest capital equipment, with machinery being replaced every five years by state-of-the-art models. The company also focusses resources on developing its own automated assembly systems. To accelerate new product introduction (NPI) activity, Harwin opened a new R&D center in 2019. The company has also established its own academy for training young engineers.
In addition to all this, Harwin can offer a robust supply chain. This is done through strong relationships with a world-class network of franchised distributors including Mouser, TTI, Digi-Key and Newark. Customers can benefit from rapid stock availability across all the company’s product lines.
