R+W understands custom coupling applications. The company recently designed the world’s largest ball-detent style safety coupling to be installed on a pair of six megawatt motors for a wind energy testing application. This one of a kind torque limiter has a diameter of 4 meters and weighed in at 21.5 metric tons. 36 high capacity modules were necessary to provide sufficient holding force for the 20,000,000 Nm disengagement torque requested by the customer. With engineering teams in Germany and the USA, R+W is prepared to take on custom requests quickly and build the ideal coupling solution for any application.
