Lecta, with its widely known brand of self-adhesive materials, recently announced that it has joined the Circular Economy for Labels (CELAB), a global industry initiative that is working to create a more sustainable, pressure-sensitive labeling industry by increasing access to matrix and liner recycling.

Lecta joins CELAB, which includes other leading companies in the self-adhesive label industry. CELAB’s activities focus on sharing information, identifying, and rolling out recycling solutions for label materials, and educating stakeholders, policymakers and the public through proactive communications.

In addition to Europe, CELAB also maintains a regional branch in North America, with plans to expand to other regions in the future.
CELAB initiatives and activities are coordinated across the global consortium, which ensures communication and best practices are shared between the regions. This structure is designed to accommodate the differences in production processes and recycling capability in each of the regional markets.
Work streams are organized to address various aspects of matrix and release liner recycling, including analyzing technical issues, promoting the use and creation of recycling networks and solutions, interacting with government regulators, and developing educational materials for the industry and public.
