MacroMAKEiT is a large-format 3D printer intended for applications in automotive, engineering, machine services, design and education. The print area is 2 by 4 feet, and it is currently in the prototype stage on KickStarter.
The printer has a 10-inch removable touchscreen with an inductive charger built-in, and includes a webcam for remote monitoring. MAKEiT’s proprietary 3D printer controller board is paired with an integrated RaspberryPi 3 computer allowing for standalone operation. The printer is controlled remotely to turn it on/off and contains a filament run-out detection sensor.
The MacroMAKEiT comes with a partially-assembled, flat-packed MacroMAKEiT 3D printer kit, assembly video instructions and lessons, software, 1 kg roll of starter filament, and access to the MacroMAKEiT owner’s forum.
Currently, the printer is more than 90 percent complete, but some aspects of the design have not been finalized, such as a hinge and support design for the enclosure’s top cover, and a hinge and slide design for the enclosure’s front doors.
