Designers who use Hall-effect sensors or optical encoders should check out the full capabilities of the Measurement Specialties, Inc. KMA36 universal magnetic encoder.
Using anisotropic magneto resistive (AMR) technology to measure the magnetic field angle of an external magnet, the contactless sensor operates over a rotation of 360° as well as incremental positions along a linear magnetic pole strip with a 5-mm pole length. The TSSOP-packaged sensor includes analog-to-digital converter and signal processing, a self-diagnostic sequence at power on and I2C data communication.
The sensor targets applications such as potentiometer replacement, motor feedback control, gauge readings, precise linear displacement measurements or steering wheel measurements.
