Make it Extreme, notorious for their DIY tinkering product designs, has honed into the electric vehicle world by creating a custom E-bike battery.
The group took lithium batteries 3,7n and attached each battery with another in every row. Every cell of battery contains 13 batteries, so in the end after each battery was connected with the other, they had 52n.
To make this possible, a ‘protection board’ had to be used. The protection board plays numerous roles in this design, such as balancing the batteries between one another, protecting the battery from overheating, and charging and discharging.
After a variety of design concepts, like a ventilated box, they successfully made a device that can power other electrical devices and vehicles. Make it Extreme could use this in future projects, so keep an eye out for their custom battery pack.
The details and plans are all available for download. Check out their process in creating the E-bike battery below.
