After being inspired by firefighting tools, Make it Extreme has made their own hydraulic cutter to help with constructions. Although certain scissors are created specifically to cut metal, even these can get tiring and painful after many hours of usage. So, Make it Extreme has taken the hard jaws from a hand scissors and adapted it to create a hydraulic piston.
Initially they made a 50 mm piston, put a metallic piece on the piston, and then adjusted the blades on the piece that were connected with the jaws of the scissors. As the piston moved, the blades functioned as levers that opened and closed the scissors.
They also made two calipers, which were placed on the same piston, and opened and closed from zero to 25 cm.
Overall, Make it Extreme found their DIY hydraulic piston more comfortable and handy than anticipated. Check out their work below.
