Let’s kick off the weekend by revisiting Wintergatan‘s innovative marble machine tune released a little more than a year ago. We introduced the video back in December.
In the year since its release, makers, gamers, and musicians of all kinds have covered the unique and peculiar tune. Here’s a look at some of the interesting ways in which the song has been remastered.
Swedish musician Martin Molin used marbles to play instruments on his jumbo music box. The hand-powered machine works by raising steel marbles through the machine into multiple feeder tubes, where they are then released from height via programmable release gates, falling and striking an instrument below. The instruments here include a vibraphone, a bass, a guitar, a cymbal, a kick drum, a snare drum, and a high hat.
