A group of design industry veterans are publicly launching FormTap — a self-publishing product marketplace that gets great product ideas off the sidelines and into the hands of consumers.
Every person on the planet has product ideas they think will make the world around them a little easier to live in. However, current processes to bring a product from idea to manufacturing are clunky, and can take months to years to become a reality. Additionally, accurate information and guidance is hard to find and expensive. This leaves the testing and development process unattainable to all but the most well-funded companies.
FormTap is designed to test, manufacture, and distribute physical product ideas, while giving consumers the power to help influence the products they eventually buy from store shelves.
FormTap takes a customer-centric approach in its product testing. Designers leverage the platform to sell the beta version of each product to their customers, who provide feedback on how to fine tune the final product. When the product moves into mass production, each beta user is rewarded with the final edition for free. This process ensures the final product fills a real customer need in the market. FormTap then uses its established retail relationships to get said product into the hands of as many customers as possible.
With over 30 years of product development, manufacturing, and distribution experience, the FormTap team provides a high level of expertise when it comes to launching design concepts. Our process was refined through the product discovery process at Fleks3D, which is currently shipping to over 70 countries and has over 5000 units sold. James McArthur is a MakerBot alum with years of consumer product, marketing, sales, and distribution experience. FormTap’s technical founders, Viktor Jondal and Peter Ragonetti, have over 30 years expertise in product design and millions of units sold.
