Sherex Fastening Solutions, a manufacturer of innovative engineered fastening solutions, has launched Optisert — an innovative round-body rivet nut that offers superior strength, performance, and spin-out compared to the typical standard round-body rivet nuts.

Sherex’s Optisert offers enhanced strength over other standard round body rivet nuts. With diamond wedges underneath the head of the rivet nut, which bites into the material, spin-out and pull-out performance is improved.
What’s unique about Optisert is the proprietary combination of an engineered knurled body and underhead wedge design. This gives the rivet nut an excellent grip, preventing it from easily spinning in the base material. This strength is nearly as great as using a hexagonal body rivet nut.
The spin-out performance of an M6 Optisert in 3mm-thick aluminum has been tested at 18.52 Nm. Similar wedged, round body rivet nuts installed in aluminum material have a spin-out test of 12.8, a 44% performance improvement.
The patent-pending closed-end design provides a sealed option that does not compromise the biting effect of the wedges, delivering superior performance to other round-body, closed-end rivet nuts in the market.
Optisert will improve the quality of the applications that the fastener goes into because the increase in spin-out and pull-out performance.
Ideal applications for Optisert include softer materials like aluminum, composite, fiberglass, and plastic. This new round body fastener is already being used in the automotive, electric vehicle, and heavy truck industries.
The standard Optisert is available in a variety of options, including open-end, closed-end, and in a variety of different coatings.
